Congratulations to Pownal Elementary, the winner of the Green Up Day 2017 Video Contest! Mrs. Hunt’s class posted a video to the Green Up Vermont Facebook page and it received the most likes and shares: 51 likes and 82 shares. It also received 4,400 views as of May 24th! How Post your video to the Green Up Day Facebook page (www.facebook.com/GreenUpVermont/). Videos must be no longer than 60 seconds. The video that receives the most Likes and Shares will be the winner!

When Green Up Day this year is Saturday May 6th. All videos must be posted to the Green Up Day Facebook page by May 21 to be considered for the grand prize.

Green Up Poster and Writing Contests

Green Up Day, first Saturday in May, when thousands of Vermonters of all ages continue to come together annually in their communities to clean up and give our lovely state its “spring cleaning.”

The student poster design contest is very important in our Green Up tradition.  One overall design is selected to be printed in full color and distributed statewide to promote Green Up Day.  The winning designer also receives $250.

Guidelines – any entries not adhering to the guidelines will be disqualified:

  • Open to all students K-12 (one entry per student)
  • Must include the words “Green Up Vermont”
  • Original “free-hand” work only (no computers)
  • Size 11” X 14” PORTRAIT (vertical orientation ONLY)
  • Must NOT include brand names or logos
  • Entry information must be on back, upper right corner

Helpful advice:

  • Lettering should be clear, easy-to-read
  • Successful viewing from a distance (avoid tiny detail)
  • Be colorful and neat
  • Should relate to Vermont
  • Relate to roadside litter clean-up and not recycling/recycling symbols

GREEN UP VERMONT WRITING CONTEST

A poem or essay of up to 200 words about Vermont’s Green Up Day. The overall winner receives $250.
